Job News and some Home Improvement...
Feb. 7th, 2008 09:17 pmInterview this morning went pretty well. Turns out this guy only interviews 3-4 people when he hires someone. I was his second interview and he had two more scheduled for the afternoon. He said that he'd be making his decision either tomorrow or Monday. Turns out, there is a very slight chance that this could become a permanent position, and I mean slight. This company makes air bags for vehicles and their company is going through a lot of flux right now. Here's hoping something works out.
Emailed the head of CTAT at Roane State concerning their open position. Turns out that the only reason my application will be considered now is because she did not go through HR when she decided to start doing interviews. She responded to my email stating that the closing date for applications was Nov. 30th and that she had already conducted interviews. I wrote her back stating that when I called HR in January that they had said they would accept my application and forward it to the department and I asked her to still consider me for the position. Her response? That she would look at my app to see if it fit what she was looking for and that the job involved more than just computer tech work. I wrote her back stating that I understood that and outlining that I had performed CTAT work on the Oak Ridge campus for teachers who were there after 4:30 because at that time CTAT had no one at that campus nor did anyone work in CTAT beyond 4:30. Added in was a little about the fact that I have 3 websites (CTAT is in charge of the Roane State website and teacher/student web stuffs) and have helped end users learn to use new software and what Wade said when he asked me to come teach at the CTC. Called a friend and had her look at it to make sure it wasn't too snarky before sending it. Blind copied Dr. King on it as well. This e-mail exchange almost makes me hope I get the other job and not this one. I have plans just in case I do get this one and it does include going to grad school.
Here's hoping something works out soon because unemployment will cover my bills, but not provide enough to put food on my table nor gas in my car. My Dad said they'd help me out and some of my friends have told me that if I need food to come eat with them :) I have some awesome friends :D
In the meantime, I've pulled up all the carpet that needed removing except the patch under the TV. Dad was going to come over today to pull up the tile, but when I talk to him last night he wasn't feeling well. He's coming over tomorrow. I'm going to go to the CTC and work through the book for the class I'll be teaching in a couple of weeks.
Edit: I just got an e-mail back from the director of CTAT. She wants me to come in for an interview at 2:00 on Monday :)
