(Home Improvement) The Tile is Mine
Jan. 9th, 2008 04:15 pmSo, here's how the tile has worked out:
Went to check on it Saturday afternoon and discovered that Home Depot was having to check with a store in Texas to see if they had enough to complete my order. Called HD today and was informed that the Texas store only had 6 cases and we needed more than that. They'd called me on Monday to come take a look at a different tile. Turns out that they have some of the same kind of natural slate, only it's from a different supplier, comes in cases of only 5 sq ft/case and is $1.78/sq ft instead of the $1.25 of the tile I was after. The more expensive tile they actually had a full pallet of in the store up on a rack where no one noticed it. Since the 6 cases in TX would only bring the total for both stores to 19 cases of the $1.25 stuff and I need 27 cases, that won't work. So, dad's at Home Depot now picking up 270 sq ft of the $.178/sq ft tiles and will be taking them back to my house. Dad was going to work with me on laying the tile, but he's got other jobs lined up ahead of mine, so it could be February before he can come show me what to do. So, I'm going to go over to Home Depot on Sat. and take their tile laying class at 11:00. If I'm comfortable enough with the process, I may just go ahead and start the process without dad :)
