Rearranging the Office...
Apr. 20th, 2007 12:40 pmGot to work this morning and Jim decided it was time to rearrange work areas. So, he cleaned off some junk he had on a glass top desk that he'd been using as a work space and had me run a network cable to it and then move my computer there. Next, the workbench where they had me sitting was cleaned of and set up as a static protection workstation with space to work on two systems at once. Discovered that a tray I was using was actually a drawer section for the desk I was moved to; so that removed some stuff from my desktop. Also, yesterday, the RAM upgrade for my work PC came in and I installed it. Boy, does 1 GB of RAM make a difference. Add to this, Jim has decided to go get a little grill and cook hot dogs and hamburgers for all of us for lunch today. Just waiting for him to get back with everything now.
Jim is happy that I've taken over the spare parts inventory. Simon, our counterpart in the UK, actually asked if I'd go over there and arrange their stuff since it's all just dumped haphazardly into boxes. I'm doing as much communication with Simon as possible through e-mail so that there is a written record of stuff. Jim says this is a good idea for the "Cover your own ass" angle as it will definitely come into use, and has already.
Fancy has taken to sleeping curled up in a towel that is hanging in the bathroom. I usually get her out of her cage in the mornings to play with her a bit and when I go into the bathroom, she jumps onto the towels that are hanging behind the toilet and hides in them. Yesterday, I just decided to leave her there since she seems to like it so much. Moved her food and water in there and closed the bathroom door just in case she decides she wants to go exploring. There's not much in the bathroom she can get hurt by since the toilet seat is covered and everything like toothpaste, medicines and vitamins are in the medicine cabinet. Closing the door keeps her from getting into other parts of the house that aren't as safe.
Not much else going on at the moment.
