Well, tomorrow is the last day the Trusted Desktop Service Desk will exist.  I'll start training with the regular service desk on Monday along with my cubicle-mate, Donna.  The regular desk is going to keep at least 7 other people (out of 16 that are left) to help cover for TD calls for at least 1 week, but our hours will be cut to 8 am-8pm instead of the TD desk hours of 24-7.  This should prove interesting.  At least I'll still be employeed and I'll be trying to make myself invaluable to these people so they bring me on as a full-time employee of SAIC faster.  Yeah, we get to remain temps for at least a month or so while we're on the regular desk.  Hours will be 8-5 during training for the first two weeks, then we spend 2 weeks working the shifts where they need fill-in, then we get to pick our shift because we'll have seniority over most of the people who are on that desk already.  Why?  Because we started working with SAIC in mid-Sept. and most of these people came on after that.  I like having seniority

Surprise!

They had a big to-do in Knoxville tonight for the employees of SAIC.  During the big to-do, Larry was given the information that our desk has again been fully funded.  We find out tomorrow (Fri.) morning how long and if Donna and I will be staying with our current service desk or going ahead and starting at the regular service desk.  Given our druthers, we'd both rather stay with our current desk as long as possible.  We like our manager and the people we work with.  You don't always get that sort of thing working a service desk.
