Unemployment, finally...
Apr. 10th, 2008 10:57 pmGot through to unemployment this morning. Took almost 10 minutes to get through the damned automated portion of the phone menus before I finally got to a real person. The guy had to go through the whole process of resigning me up for unemployment. Took half an hour, but he assured me that I'd be able to file my claim Sunday with no problem. The only problem with the whole process? He needed to get in touch with the Corporate Training Center to verify my work status and no one was there at 8:15 this morning. He was supposed to call them back closer to 9. Said if he didn't get them on the phone that he'd have to send them a letter via snail mail which would then have to be returned via snail mail which would mean I wouldn't get any pay until they received the return letter. Knowing how mail runs around here, that could be two weeks.
I've been doing practice tests this week at school. I'm getting a better than 90% passing on all the tests I've taken for the past several days. Started going through making flash cards of the things I need to know for the exam this afternoon. Trying to get Adkins to help me study this weekend as there are a few things that I just need to get drilled into my head and I do that better when I have someone to study with. Setting the test up for Tuesday morning. Then I'll go up to Roane States Corporate Training Center, review the first two books for Excel 2003 and then work through the level III book and go take the 2003 Excel Professional exam. That'll make two certs in one week. Week after that, I start CCNA training. Hoping these will help me get a new job and soon.
