Madness!

So, Dave called a little bit ago to give me some info he was supposed to be checking on for me.  As it was 3:00 and he normally gets out of work at 3:00, I found this odd.  Turns out, the place he works had caught up with their orders by end of day Tuesday and had nothing for their employees to work on.  Instead of paying them to stand around for the rest of the week while they were waiting for orders to come in, they laid them all off with orders to call back on Monday to see if they had any work.  So, Dave gets paid for two days for this week.  Because of this, he had to let go the layaway on his pistol and get his money back so he could use that money to pay his car insurance.  He was working on plans to go to Origins in Columbus, OH in July since he decided he wouldn't be able to make GenCon this year.  Well, thanks to this layoff and the possibility of not having work for part of next week either, those plans have been tanked completely.

We are planning on attending some of the Secret City Festival here in Oak Ridge Saturday.  Luckily, that's free.  There's another event that evening he may want to go to, so I'm going to check on getting tickets for that since I have a little extra money this month.

Weekend Plans?!?

Well, our weekend plans have been thrown into a tizzy.  Tomorrow and Saturday is the Secret City Festival here in Oak Ridge.  Dave and I were planning on going to the WWII re-enactments on Saturday and another friend of ours wanted to come as well.  As a means to try to cheer Dave up over the whole lay-off thing, I checked on ticket prices for a few events including WWE Raw this Saturday evening.  Dave usually pays for just about everything we do together, so I wanted to treat for once and I know that he likes wrestling. 

So, what caused the tizzy?  Neither of us remembered until Eric said something about it to Dave today that there is a Warmachine tournament on Saturday.  According to Eric, some players who live about 2 hrs. from here will actually be driving in for the tournament.  The start time is supposed to be 1:00, but the last couple of times these guys drove down we didn't get started until almost 3:00.  So, if we do the tourney thing, we wouldn't be able to attend any of the other events.

I kinda took wrestling out of the issue because I gave Dave two other options as well as the wrestling.  Saliva will be in concert at Blue Cats on Thurs., June 28 and Sevendust will be there July 15th.  I was pretty sure that Dave liked Saliva, but couldn't recall if he liked Sevendust.  In the ticket choice, he's opted for Saliva and I've ordered the tickets and printed out the driving instructions on how to get to Blue Cats since I've never been there before. 

As for the re-enactment/tournament decision, that will be made tomorrow.  The festival starts tomorrow and there will be some events tomorrow afternoon.  Dave may opt to come down for those and make tourney on Saturday.  Then again, the festival is a once a year thing and tourneys take place several times a year.  The main even tomorrow starts around 1:00-1:30, which is also when I usually take lunch.  Told Dave that if he wants to see stuff tomorrow to just pick me up on his way by and take me with him for a bit and I'd spend my lunch break with him at the festival.  We'll see what happens tomorrow.
