Learning at work...

So, I'm making my first post from my new job.  Liking the new job, but still got a lot to learn.  Was setting up some new drives when an amplifier that we had hooked up to one of the sound server systems started beeping incessantly.  To get rid of the beeping, I found the power switch and turned it off while fighting with another system that wasn't working.  Turned around to finally get started on my drives again to find the central computer for this process turned off.  As it turns out, the amplifier isn't just an amplifier, but a computer as well and the central one to the process that I was working on.  Currently unable to do the drive builds because I don't know the password for the amplifier/computer thing...sigh...

Piecing together some other things and trying to move forward as much as possible.  The one system I was fighting with I've determined the problem isn't the drive, nor is it the IDE cable, which means that it has to be the IDE channel on the motherboard...sigh...  Can't wait for the boss to get back and find out.

BTW, I was correct.  For this office, I am employee number 4.  They aren't hiring anyone else at the moment, but I am writing down instructions for how to do things as best I can.  Get it documented so future new hires, if there are any, will have some documentation to follow.  On another side note, their preferred web browser is Firefox and the mail client we use is Thunderbird.  Currently, still waiting on my e-mail account here at work to be created.

In other news, the Warmachine league started at Sci Fi City last week.  I've played 5 or 6 games so far and I'm tied for 7th in the league.  Only won 2 games so far, but got a bounty on one game that gave me some extra points.  Adkins and I are teamed up with another young gentleman named EJ.  Dave and EJ are playing Menoth factions while I'm running Mercs.  So far, our team is in the lead for the team prize.  John is in the lead for the relentless award (most games played) with Dave pulling a close 2nd.  Dave is currently leading the league in points overall.  One guy, Steven (John's teammate) has apparently dropped out of the league.  He was supposed to play against me on Sunday, but when Dave and I got there, he was already playing against Brett.  Steven lost that game, meaning he had no wins whatsoever in the league so far.  Now he's talking about selling his army and dropping out of the league completely.  Hate to see that happen as he's a great guy and I'm just now getting to know him a little. 

Well, guess I'd better go and get some more work done.  Boss should be getting back from lunch soon.
