About the house...
Jan. 4th, 2007 06:16 pmSo, I got a call on New Years, or was it the day after, that the house was currently being rewired. Got another call yesterday that they were having to trim back a magnolia tree to do the rewire. I called Alicia, my realtor, back and told her that trimming branches was okay, but that I didn't want the tree taken down unless it was dying/dead and would be falling over soon. I also mentioned that I want the receipts and warranty papers for all the work being done. That way, if it fails while under warranty I can get it fixed. The receipts are so I can check to see how much this is actually costing. If the rewire doesn't cost the seller at least $1000, then I'm not going to let them tack that extra thousand onto the price of the house. At this point, I'm starting to get frustrated. The seller has drug their feet at every step of this process. They go out of town and don't leave numbers where they can be reached so their listing agent has to wait for them to get back to town, they argue every point of things that have to be fixed. They're current bit is that the air conditioner is a seasonal item and they can't find one, so they don't want to replace the broken one that is currently in the house. Thing is, the house was listed as having working air conditioning, therefore, according to my realtor, the seller has to provide a working air conditioner with the house. The seller did not list the house as being sold AS IS, and the things having to be fixed are things that should have been fixed before they tried to sell the house unless they were listing it as and AS IS sell.
Due to these frustrations, I'm actually starting to look for something else. If the seller doesn't really want to sell this house, a house that has been on the market for over 6 months and has been unoccuppied for a year, then I don't have to buy it. Only issue is, pickings in my price range are slim to none for a home the size I would need. If I weren't sewing, I could probably be okay with something that was only 700 sq. ft., but sewing means I need room to spread out and the 904 sq. ft. of this house is the least amount of space I would take in a home or apartment.
Damn, I just wish this seller would get off their ass, quit whining and dragging their feet about fixing this house and lets get it over with. I just want a space of my own, to stop having to depend on other people for a place to live and having a space where I'm not having to share walls would be wondermous. I hate having so much of my life on hold because of this...sigh...
