So, how did I spend my New Years weekend? Well, I had to work part of it, but had most of it off :) The thing is, Adkins and I both assumed that I'd be scheduled to work it since I've been scheduled to work every holiday since I began working here. So, Dave made plans to spend the weekend in Ohio visiting his brother. And, of course, I found out last week that I had New Years Eve and New Years Day off...sigh...
We hung out together some Friday afternoon, then I had to work until midnight. Dave headed up to Ohio Saturday morning and I worked noon to 8:45. Spent the evening at Wayne and Claudia's fiddling on the computers and catching up on a couple of TV shows. Sunday, I spent the afternoon at Sci Fi City hanging out with the guys there, talking comics, War Machine, Hordes and helping a couple of new kids learn to play War Machine and Hordes. Sunday night, I spent at my friend Brewer's basement - aka "The Rats Nest" (long story). There was a whole group of us and we played a game called "The Order of the Stick" based on the web-comic of the same name. It was fun. This was the second time I'd gotten to play the game and the first time I'd gotten to play it to its conclusion. Oddly enough, I actually won the game. We didn't realize midnight had come until 4 minutes past and we didn't finish the game until around 2:30 a.m.
New Years Day, Adkins called around 10:30 to state he was on his way home and was only a couple of hours out. We made arrangements to meet at Wayne & Claudia's place and spend the day together. I got to W&C's place around 1:30 to discover that John's deal to sell the Barony had fallen through and he was selling off most of the furniture. He's got a bunch of two seater couches that are actually two recliners with a console between them with cupholders and a place to store some small items like magazines or game controllers. We loaded up 2 green ones for W&C into Tom's truck, then did another green couch for Dave and a tan couch for W&C which they delivered and then came back for another green couch for Dave. They had 4 colors to choose from: blue, red, tan and green. Not sure what color Dave was going to get to begin with, but as soon as I mentioned that I liked the green that's what color he decided to go with. We got his second couch loaded and Tom drove all the three of us to Dave's mom's place in LaFollette. Dave treated us to Pizza Hut afterwards and then we went back to the Barony to get Dave's car. Tom went home and Dave and I headed back to W&C's. After watching Ultraviolet, which we were both glad we didn't have to pay to see (decent plot idea, poor execution) Dave crawled onto the xBox 360 and started playing Marvel Team-Ups. As always, it was a team effort between the two of us trying get him through the game. He finally got off the xBox at almost 4:00 a.m. Neither of us was in any shape to drive, so we crashed in Justin's room since he wasn't there. We got up about 10:00 this morning. Dave had the day off, but I had to be clocked in by noon, so I got ready to go and went got some food for the day and have been at work ever since. Dave had talked about going back over to the Barony this afternoon to see what else he might scavenge. Just now getting off work and checked my phone. Looks like I missed his call, so will call him back on the way home.
As for the house, the lady from the mortgage company has yet to call me back, so I'm going to call her again tomorrow and see what I can find out. Here's hoping we can get things worked out.
