Changes...
Sep. 11th, 2006 08:52 pmWell, some of my plans for TN have changed.
Mom and Dad brought me over to NC and we met
aikidragon for dinner. Aiki and I talked about our time at Dragon Con since mom and dad weren't saying a lot. We were about ready to leave, when mom got on her religious high horse and started going off on us because we don't spend every waking moment contemplating eternity and how we were going to settle up with God with we die. I went off right back at her. Needless to say, I'll not be staying with my parents when I go back to TN. As a matter of fact, at this point, since this isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened, I'll probably not be speaking to my mother ever again until she can accept me for who and what I am without judging me.
I've made arrangements to drop what I'll be taking back to TN at my cousin Lena's place for storage and staying with my friends Wayne and Claudia who gave me an open invitation over the weekend to stay with them whenever and for however long I needed it. Lena told me that if they didn't have space for me, she and Kendal would make space for me at their place. At least I have a place to stay until I can get my feet under me and get a place of my own.
I hate being this transient right now. I want my own place. I don't want to be dependent on anyone else for anything right now, but guess that'll have to wait for a bit more.
Also, checked on Friday about the possibility of business loan. Read through a book I bought last week at Dragon Con concerning running a specialty shop as I'm looking at the possibility of buying the Barony game store in Oak Ridge. John, the guy who owns the business now, put it up for sale back in June. He's selling the assets, but keeping the name in case he decides to do this a third time. He's pretty much shot himself in the foot with his business in more than one way. I spent Saturday afternoon talking to some friends who are familiar with the business and they said it sounded like I was aware of situation and that I was headed in the right direction with where I wanted to take the business if I can actually buy it.
So, here's to closing one chapter of my life (see mom) and opening up a whole new one. At least I have a whole family of friends who will support me when I need it :)
