Update and Shakespeare and Friends info
May. 31st, 2006 04:56 pmShakespeare and Friends in the Park: A Renaissance Festival will be held this weekend. I'll be there as storyteller Brigid Maguigan if anyone would like to come visit. Just in case someone decides to join us there, from Asheville take I-40 West to I-81 and exit at the Morristown / White Pine exit Hwy. 25E. Go towards Morristown till you see the Rogersville / Hwy. 11w exit and go east. You're about 20 minutes from Rogersville here. As you approach town you will see signs directing you to the faire. Be careful as at least one of the signs was practically hidden last year by some overgrown bushes :)
Other than that, not a lot going on lately. I did some cleaning last week and this, but not overly much. The last weekend of the show I was working with in Asheville went well and I made some good contacts for possible theatre work.
Last Saturday, our friend Dan came over when he got off of work at Harrah's. For those who don't know, the Harrah's casino in Cherokee is only about half an hour from our house. Dan brought by some info on a PC tech job for
aikidragon. He also told us that they have some theatre tech jobs opening up. This would be great if aiki and I could get work on the same shift. If we could, then it would be one vehicle driving to Cherokee instead of two. Also, everyone I've talked to has said that Harrah's has some of the best benefits around. Now all we have to do if wait for the jobs to be posted publicly so we can put in for them.
Still got a bit of cleaning to do before the sewing can start. Found some great online galleries and spent most of yesterday downloading Medival and Renaissance era portraits to use as references when making clothes. For anyone else interested, here's the link to the one I spent yesterday on:
Web Gallery of Art: http://www.wga.hu/frames-e.html?/html/l/licinio/index.html
The National Gallery, London: http://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/default.htm
The National Portrait Gallery, UK: http://www.npg.org.uk/live/index.asp - This one you have to know the name of the artist whose work you are searching for.
Well, guess I should get off of here and start cleaning :)
