Kites

Yesterday, when I got home, I finally pulled out my new kite and took it and the new string reel for a test run. The kite was bought at World Market and is one of those Chinese Butterfly kites. I bought a reel with 200 ft. of 30lb kite string at Walmart and another roll of 400 yds of 30lb test fishing line. Well, the wind was an on-again-off-again thing, but I did manage to get it up a couple of times. The first time, there were issues keeping it up as I encountered knots in the string which was not wound tightly around the reel. The second time I got it up, I reached the end of the kite string (200 ft.) but did not manage to coax it any higher. Add to that, I had it up for a good 5-10 minutes before it came back down again. At that point, I pulled all the string off of the reel and re-wound it, this time tightly so I won't have issues with it next time.

It was nice to get out and play with my kite. Haven't done that since before 1995. It's relaxing to me as well as fun.

Finally watched the last episode of Smallville Season One. Now we can finally give the box set back to Joe :)

Got to bed a little early last night. Works going slow today, only because I'm so tired and just really don't feel motivated. Still no idea when they'll be doing interviews for these jobs...sigh...
