Had a good day yesterday. Got a call yesterday morning at 6:15 from the ATS helpdesk stating that the Eaton Plant where I work had lost all network connectivity and that Mike, my co-worker, would not be there due to illness. So, I finished getting ready to go and went on into work as normal. After some investigation, I discovered that it wasn't the entire plant, only one of our three subnets. Finally discovered that there was hardware failure on the server that runs the that subnet, so rebooted and the server recovered from the failure. Next, discovered that the database that the subnet uses was corrupted and had to rebuild the database, then go through each address on the subnet and release it so that it would be available for our users. Yay, I figured it out and fixed it all by myself :D

Next, I was able to get an image that wouldn't open one way to deploy to another pc so that I could retrieve data from it. Had to add some drivers to the image before I could connect it to the network, but was able to complete this and restore the data that one of our users thought she had lost.

Later in the day, I got to start gathering information for the next batch of cascade rollouts (that's hand-me-down pc's for those who don't know). Also, working on two new pc's for the shop floor. The one bad part of the day so far: Mike was listed as going to some training in Greeneville today, so I had to come into work instead of making my jaunt to Oak Ridge today. Taking Friday off instead :D

Bellydance went well and I'm not as sore today as I thought I would be. Even managed to get someone in my brothers family on the phone last night. Had been trying to call them since this past weekend to find out what they wanted for Christmas and they hadn't been home nor returned my phone calls. My 7 yr. old niece Katy answered the phone and her Christmas wish list consisted of a Paleontology class, a paint brush and the kids version of razor wire so she could keep her 21 month old brother out of her room :D I couldn't help but laugh :D Passed this info along to my brother when he finally got on the phone :) *snicker*

So, all-in-all a good day.

This morning, I realized we had a message on the answering machine so listed to it. Turns out the oil company got a new credit card machine and it wouldn't run my card number for them yesterday. [livejournal.com profile] aikidragon had not checked messages yesterday so I was completely unaware of it until this morning. Need to call them now so I can get that taken care of.

Get to work and am confronted by Mike, who apparently didn't have to leave until around 9ish. I had changed out the back-up tapes yesterday and done exactly what I had been shown to do, but was unaware that it had apparently not worked. Seems that one of the jobs in the back-up queue decided it wanted another tape on Saturday morning instead of the tapes that were in the deck. Because of that, it had been trying to run the job for 101 hours. Not knowing this, not knowing enough about the system, I got jumped onto in e-mail first for not doing the inventory of the tape set that I put in yesterday. Well, I had told the system to run the inventory and Mike had discovered that before I got into work this morning, so sent another e-mail concerning going over the whole back-up procedure. Guess who is going to be taking care of the back-ups from now on... ;( When I asked Mike to type up the procedures for this so we would have some sort of documentation on it that could be kept at the server his response was that he didn't have time to do that and that I could look the information up in the help files like he had. Yeah, right, the guy who has been bitching all along about this places lack of communication and documentation and he's doing nothing but adding to the problem. Guess I'll just have to do the documentation myself. Something else to take me away from my rollouts and watch them fall further behind...sigh... Sometimes I hate this job.

Off to eat some lunch and continue working as I'm eating.

This was just too funny :D

Oh Great Cthulhu!

I have been an extremely busy devotee this year.

In January, I defiled the grave of that traitor, Lovecraft (90 points). In February, I visited my relatives in Innsmouth (100 points). In July, I sacrificed [info]dol_anda to Cthulhu (500 points). Last week, I recruited [info]amberblue as a new cultist (30 points). In November, I fed [info]silverbec to a Shoggoth (250 points). When the stars were right, I bombed a cultist gathering (-100 points).

In short, I have been very good (870 points) and deserve to be eaten first.

Your humble and obedient servant,
