Boy have things changed for our performances this weekend. Not only have we lost the band and had to bust the large tribal crescent into two smaller crescents, but now one has gotten larger and the other smaller. The group that I'm not in has added at least one person if not two. The group that I am in has lost one. What's interesting about it is that the person we lost was the one I was supposed to be doing a duet with *eek!* Well, for the first time since 1987 my parents are actually going to come see something I'm working on, so I can't just drop out of this one. We did get some stuff worked out about it last night. Even when Cayenne, the lady I was doing the duet with, was supposed to be there, it felt too much like this pair, then this pair, then the last pair and nothing but the chorus making us a unit. Now that Cayenne is no longer in our group it'll be one pair, then the other, then I do a solo that will end in bringing the rest of the group back in one at a time. We'll end in a circle doing a shoulder shimmy then turn and leave the stage.

Cayenne and I had been going on what Onca had original told us having our bit only go for about 64 counts and we kept changing it. There were a couple of moves that I'd wanted to incorporate, but Cayenne didn't feel like she could do them well so we'd left them out. Now, instead of the 64 count duet, of got 192 counts for a solo and can do whatever I like :) When we got to class last night, Cayenne was begging out of the show as she said she was just not up to par with the rest of us and felt as if she were holding us back. She also works with another group which is doing a performance on Dec. 10 and she's having to make all of their costumes and could really use the time we've been putting into practice to work on her costumes. I don't envy her the costume making as I'll be doing that myself this weekend and during the coming months since I have 3 commissions lined up and hoping to finish one of them this weekend :D

Well, guess I'd best get some work done now since that's where I am...bleh...

Went to Shannon's to practice with the people from my tribal group. Last night I was told to do 192 counts of solo. I worked out the routine while at work this morning, but didn't get a chance to go over it until after getting to Shannon's. Is it me, or don't you have to practice things a few times before you're supposed to get them right? They kept getting onto me for getting off-beat when all I was trying to do was remember what my next step was supposed to be. Not only that, now the solo is down to possibly 128 beats give or take an 8 count. They keep changing the number of 8 counts we're doing at the beginning of the song, the two duets don't have a clue how many counts their own sets are, so I have no clue as to how long my solo should be or even where in the song it actually starts. We have one more rehearsal tomorrow night, then I have a busy day Friday before we perform Friday night.

Can we say I feel a disaster coming on?...sigh...
