Guess I should post something since it's been almost a week and the last thing I posted was announcing the passing of Robert Asprin.
Adkins came over Friday evening and we went to see the new Indiana Jones movie. I liked it, but thought they played up too many cliches. Saturday, I went to the gym for the Body Jam class then met with my trainer. I'd been asked to drive up to Johnson City for a photo shoot for some of the renfaire cast, one of my friends who lives there was even going to pay for my gas, but with gas prices jumping almost another $.20/gallon and my having a rather full day without 4 hrs driving being added to it, I decided to pass. Stayed home and worked on a vest for a friend to borrow for the renfaire. Vest will go up for sale once the faire is over. That evening, we cooked out at Brewers house and only 4 of our gaming crew showed. Wayne, who usually runs our game, was helping out with his dad who is back in the hospital again.
Sunday, a friend of mine came over. A couple of years ago he bought a Harley and kept promising to take me out for a ride on it. I finally got that ride :) Keep in mind, the last time I was on a full-size motorcycle I was about 7 yrs old. Dad had bought an old bike, I can remember it was red and very faded and dusty. Dad took me for a short ride down the dirt rode we lived on and that was the one and only time I was ever on an honest to gods motorcycle. My friend picked me up on his way home from Knoxville. At his place, he pulled out helmets and safety glasses, we packed a bag with swimming gear because the original plan included stopping in Crossville to swim at a park there. Original trip: Meet another friend in Wartburg, drive south to Spring City, then NW to Crossville to swim and catch dinner, then back home. Actual trip? My friend had left something in Knoxville, so going there was added to our trip. In Knoxville, we made 3 pit stops. My friend bought us both goggles to wear since the safety glasses were proving uncomfortable. From K'ville, we drove down hwy 70 to Rockwood, caught hwy 27 to Spring City, then cut back to Crossville. Thanks to the drive to K'ville, we didn't get to make the park, but we did stop to eat in Crossville before heading back this way. From the time we left his house on the bike until we got home? About 8 hrs. It was starting to get dark, so he decided to go back to his place and drive me home in the car.
Monday, went for a cookout at my parents place. For once, there were no arguments nor overly awkward conversations. That evening, my friend with the bike came over again. He's wanting to learn to make kilts, so he's watching me make one for him. Since it's my first time making a kilt, it's a learning experience for the both of us. We got the skirt done and the waistband sewed on. He's coming over again this evening so we can work on adding snap closures, belt loops, and pockets.
Speaking of sewing, in the past two weeks, I've made a vest for me to wear for faire, almost finished my friends kilt, and almost done with a second vest. Would be done with the second vest, but when I went by Joann's last night on my way to class I bought refills for the cloth covered button kit and didn't realize I wasn't getting a kit that had the setters in it. So, tomorrow evening on my way to class, I'll stop there again and get a kit with the setters in it. Will post pics of the vests once I finish this one.
Overall, not a bad weekend :)
