Got a call a little bit ago. This morning, I had my cousin Lena fax my resume and cover letter from the place where she works to a company who had a tech position posted at Knoxcareers.com. This afternoon, I'm checking out at Wal-mart when the cell rings and it's a lady from Imerge Ltd. She started off by asking how much I'd like to be paid. I stated I'd like to get at least $25,000 per year. Her next question was could I come in for an interview tomorrow!!! Tomorrow is my off day, so that's cool.
Yeah, I like doing tech support for GameTap at Client Logic, but it's only paying $9/hr and that's only a little over $18,000 a year. It's also got me sitting on my ass all day, working weird schedules, and I have to plan at least 2 wks out if I want time off for something or I won't get it. If I get this job with Imerge, I'd probably have a set schedule, and I wouldn't have to worry about having to cash in my Wal-mart stock to pay off the van early. Not only that, I'd probably be able to afford cable TV and internet without having to wait until October like I'll be doing if I stay with CL.
Lena, having never heard of this company, suggested that I look them up and see who they are and make sure this won't be some sort of temp position. I googled them with the added bit of "Oak Ridge" and got their support page. Imerge is based out of the UK and developed the XiVa audio server technology. Looks like the office here in Oak Ridge will be their first support location here in the US as it was the only address besides their home office in Cambridge, UK. Here's hoping things work out :D
On a side note, didn't do any work at the house today. Temps never got warm enough for the paint. Supposed to hit 40 tomorrow, so will start early going by the insurance office to do paperwork for homeowners insurance, then scraping until about noon, then lunch and changing clothes for interview then back for painting duties. Busy day tomorrow!!!
