What a wonderfully fun weekend!
Jun. 15th, 2009 09:51 pmSome of you may know, some may not, that a friend of mine named Arlie is putting together a troop to start doing shows at renfaires. The troop is call ATBAN which stands for A Troop By Any other Name. The first group of skits are going to center around the Swampfox Sisters. Arlie has asked me to join her merry little band of players as the oldest sister. Right now, there are 3 main cast members and a couple of others who may get drawn into skits if they're at the shows. In all, there are 10 sisters and one brother. Three sisters will be the cast with the brother thrown in on occassion. We're still working on developing the characters, but we've got a good start.
This past weekend, we made the first official appearance of the Swampfox Sisters in Knoxville. Adventure Con was this past weekend and Temple, the local goth club, had a 501st Storm Trooper mixer that ran from 10:00 pm until 3:00 am, costumes not required, but encouraged. Arlie and CJ drove down from Bristol/Johnson City, Todd from Rogersville was already in town for the Tattoo convention so he came over, Little David came in from Clinton and my friend Rose rode over with me. Arlie dressed as Pearl Swampfox, CJ dressed as the half brother Tanzanite Beniowski and I went as Garnet Swampfox. We stayed in character all night and had an absolute blast :) Another friend had a camera and took pics. ( Look back here to see the Swampfox family :) )

Sunday, I visited with my brother and his family for a bit. Then we loaded up a couple of motorcycles, took them to the school and my brother started teaching me to ride. Didn't get over 10 mph, but got almost comfortable making left and right turns. My brother seemed to think that I did pretty well for someone who'd not driven a motorcycle before. Looking forward to more practice before taking the motorcycle safety course the last weekend of this month. It was kinda scary, but fun at the same time :)
Well, it's late and I need to feed the furballs and get some sleep.
