A good day...
Apr. 11th, 2009 11:44 pmWell, not everyone showed who said they would, but enough were here that we got things accomplished today.
Rose and I went to the butcher shop this morning and both replenished our meat freezers :)
Dad and I pulled the root of the fallen pine out of the fence, straightened the fence and then went to Home Depot and bought 50 pieces of 1/2" x 2' re-bar, a grill brush, a 2 lb. hammer and 80 landscaping timbers.
Roger and Josh took care of getting the fallen pine tree out of the middle of my yard while Josh's son Alex raked branches up and later mowed the back yard.
Roger and dad laid the landscaping timbers for my strawberry/herb/flower garden up front. This is a 5 level tiered space next to my carport. I told dad how I wanted it laid out. He did it his way and after he left, Rose, Alex and I went back and fixed it the way I wanted it :D
Dad and Josh did the front wall for the first level of my tiered garden next to my fencing/throwing lane. 30' long and 21" deep, landscaping timbers anchored with re-bar. Dad will come back next weekend and we'll do the sides for that level, then do the second level. This is where I plan on planting things like lettuce, tomatoes, brocolli and whatever other vegetables I decide to plant.
Rose and I figured out the layout for my plants and planted 3 cherry tree saplings, 3 hazelnut bushes, 2 each of 3 varieties of Eucalyptus, 2 acacia trees and 1 raspberry. We also started trimming a couple of hedge bushes that I will form into box hedges :)
Josh cooked burgers on my grill, after cleaning it. Rose sliced up onions, lettuce and tomatoes for the burgers earlier in the day.
Oh, and during all of that, the cable guy showed up and tracked down my internet issue to the cable office replacing the dead cable modem I took in last Monday with another faulty modem. Hence, my lack of internet access from home for the past week.
All-in-all, a good day with lots accomplished :)
