So, Stephen was supposed to come pick me up today at 9:00 am to help with a job in Wartburg.  I woke up a little before 7 and let the furballs out of their cage.  Fancy decided that I needed to be played with and kept crawling under the covers and biting (not hard enough to break skin, but enough to feel it) my toes!  Then she found something in my hair and started digging for that, before running to the foot of the bed and going after my toes again.  Needless to say, I didn't get back to sleep :)  Got up at 7:30, showered and was pretty much ready to go by 9:00, only to get a call from Stephen saying he was running behind and would be by in a few.  Then another call, he had to take his wife's car to get the oil changed and would pick me up afterwards.  Turns out, it had been so long since they'd had the oil changed that they had to flush the entire system...  He showed up around noonish.

Finally, we get headed to Wartburg, then he remembers that he's got to stop at the bank and make a deposit.  We started to turn around and head back through downtown Oliver Springs only to discover at our first intersection in downtown a branch of the bank that he needed to go to.  Took him about 20 minutes to make the deposit :/  It was 1:30 when we got to the dealership.  During that hour and a half, I think Stephen may have been off the phone a total of 10, maybe 15 minutes.  He'd get second calls while on one, would get both off the line to get another call within 1-2 minutes.  Took us 2 hours to get the Ford dealership up and running because Stephen kept getting phone calls from other techs, then the Ford tech we were working with gave us some bad info.  After we got off the phone with him, made another call to the Ford help desk and the next person had us figured out and up and running in about 10 minutes.  At this point, it's 3:30 and I've not eaten since 9:30.  Getting hungry...

Drove down to Harriman.  There was a major mix-up for a work order in Knoxville and some debate about skipping the work order we were headed to in Kingston, but after several phone calls we had another tech headed to the K'ville location and we continued to Kingston.  Finally stopped at a Buddy's Bar-b-que and got food, yay :)  The work order for Kingston was for a personal computer that Stephen had worked on before.  Turns out that the person had gotten some sort of virus that serious messed up their system and they were going to have to completely wipe the system and reload.  We were there, maybe half an hour.  One nice thing about that stop was seeing a slew of butterflies hovering around a beautiful flowering bush along with the smallest hummingbird I have ever seen.  It was a gorgeous spectacle :)

From there, we headed to Alcoa Good Times only for Stephen to have spent so much time on the phone driving that he'd not paid attention to his gas gauge.  We were stranded just shy of the I40-I75 split just outside of Knoxville for maybe half an hour while his cousin brought us a couple of gallons of gas :)  Finally got to AGT at 6:00, tried to get into their router, but the admin password didn't work.  Tried to reset it to factory defaults, that didn't work either.  After a bit, disconnected it, reconnected it, then couldn't get into it at all.  Got the Charter tech we were on the phone with to set them back up to have their cable modem double as a router, but that took a while.  Then when we told the manager for AGT what we'd had set up, he asked why not keep it that way and just pay the little extra and not worry about having an extra device on the network that they didn't really need.  Arrangements are being made to set that up.  We left there at 9:00.

Nice thing?  Although it's not as much as if I did the job myself, I'll be getting training pay for the work orders today.  Also, Stephen said it'll take a bit to get me worked into the rotations and get their local clients familiar with me.  Until then, he's going to pay me about $70 a week until I'm working enough hours each week that I can cover my bills and get off unemployment.  Not only that, he's considering studying for the CCNA exam himself and is making plans to come help me study so that I can take the exam next week and pass it.  This way, we can help each other because he has more real-world experience working with the routers while I have more info concerning specifics such as the different routing protocols for LANS and WANS.  He had me trying to explain port overloading over the phone, but without being able to show him a diagram, he just wasn't getting it.  Group study may start tomorrow :)

In the meantime, no Adkins time tonight.  It was 9:30 when I got home.  He'd been here and left.  I got a call a few minutes after getting home.  He was in KY, no idea why, he'd just started driving.  Guessing I won't see him again until next Friday since he's out of school until the Fall semester begins.

Did have one scare this evening.  Got home and couldn't find Fancy.  She wasn't in the blanket, nor in any of her known hidey holes.  After Stephen left, I did more searching, checked the blanket where they sleep a couple of times and about 20-30 minutes later, went back to it again and she'd crawled back into it.  Pulled her out and got her some meal worms :)  Going to go play with her and Madeline a little now :D

Oh, actually told Stephen that I was holding his laptop ransom until I started getting paid.  He laughed about it.  Even left it here for a little longer :)  Not sure how we're going to go about getting more training after this, but looking forward to it :)
