Spent most of this weekend in a foul mood.  Doubt anyone here cares as to why, so won't go into details.  Suffice to say that depression and envy do not make for kind moods.

Friday, the fill valve in my toilet busted.  Got the part I needed and tried to replace it myself on Saturday, but wasn't sure how to get the old one out.  Wound up calling a friend to come help.  Would have called Adkins, but he was out of town and unreachable, as was my dad.  My friend Tom and I wound up making two more trips to Home Depot to get/exchange parts before it was over with.  Then we had gaming that night which went pretty well.

The original plan for Saturday was to put the second coat of sealer on the remainder of my tiles before we install them.  Alas, I spent all day with the toilet.  So, tile sealing was bumped to Sunday.  Got one batch of tile sealed, laid out the next batch and washed them off.  While they were drying, the wind, which was heavy, blew in a cold front and it got too cold for me to spend extended periods of time outside.  I spent the remainder of the day watching Eureka and cleaning house.

I attempted to make black beans and rice Saturday, but it failed miserably.  Things learned?  Black beans take a long time to cook and the rice shouldn't be added until the beans are done.  Not to mention, I should only use about 1/8 to 1/4 of the bag of rice, not 1/2.  Overcooked rice with undercooked beans will be fed to the outdoor animals...

Right now, I'm in the mentoring lab at school studying for the CCENT exam.  I'm passing the prep exams with a better than 90%, but I've looked at this stuff so much my eyes are blitzing out on me and it's making me sleepy.  Also, the foul mood isn't really helping with the desire to study either.

Had one good thing happen this weekend.  I got a call from a lady about doing a costume commission.  I was recommended to her by a previous client.  One of the high schools in Knoxville does a Madrigal dinner every year.  Back in '03, one lady, a teacher there, got my number from one of the fabric stores in Knoxville.  She had me make a dress for her daughter and that was a $400 commission.  This lady was apparently impressed enough with my work that she recommended me to the lady who called me Saturday.  This new lady and her daughter will be coming over to the house Tuesday after I take my CCENT exam to look at patterns and discuss the commission.  Here's hoping it works out :)
