Cookies!!!
Mar. 14th, 2008 01:06 pmSo, to celebrate my birthday (actually not as this was originally planned for Monday and just worked out to happen yesterday), my friend Jammie came over yesterday evening. The plan? Eat supper, make cookies and stay up watching movies :D
What happened?
We hit the grocery store and bought baking and snacking supplies, then came home and I heated up roast and potatoes for dinner. Then we started on Benne wafers. We bought some brown sugar to mix with Splenda and some milled flax seed so we could make the low carb version and in our haste, used flour instead of the flax seed *slaps self in forehead* Any way, they turned out pretty good, but by the time they were done it was after 10:00. Keeping in mind it was after 6:00 when Jammie got here to begin with. Cookies done, we decided to watch movie instead of moving onto the next batch of cookies. Movie? The Good Witch, a made for TV movie that borrowed heavily from Chocolat. It was okay, but I prefer Chocolat (mmm, Johnny Depp as a gypsy :D). We looked up some stuff on the internet after the movie and it was after 1:30 when the lights went out.
Got up at 8:00 this morning so we could start more cookies. Also, I my trainer had rescheduled to meet with me this morning at 10 instead of my normal Sat. at noon. So, we looked up the Nestle Toll House cookie recipe and the only difference between that and the recipe on the Hershey's bag was the amount of salt. Jammie did a double batch and I did a single batch of dough, both of us overlooking the eggs that were supposed to go into the batter and only realizing it when the dough was so crumbly :( Eggs were added and cookie became the right consistency. Yay for eggs :D I added Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate to my dough and she added 3 bags of Reese's Peanut Butter Chips to her dough. I took a platter of finished cookies to my trainer and when I got back Jammie had just finished up her cookies. We baked a couple sheets of my cookies, then ran some errands and then finished my last two cookie sheets of cookies.
All-in-all, not a bad evening for a birthday :)
