When I bought my house back in Feb. it had a window air conditioning unit in it. All the knobs except the one that adjusts the coolness had broken off. Last night, on a whim, I plugged it in. Hadn't done that yet. Low and behold, it started blowing cool air into the house. I'd just exchanged the fan I bought at Wal-mart that had died for a bigger and hopefully better tower fan and it had a note that you could put it in front of a window AC unit to help spread the cool air. I tried it and low and behold it's working. Was telling Jason about it at work a few minutes ago and he has a window unit that he bought last year when they were still in VA. He doesn't need it anymore and said he'd sell it to me for $40, and that it should still be under warranty. May put that one in the bedroom. Also, Jim told me this morning that once the AC is installed here at work that I could take at least one of the fans we have here home with me. Which will be good because then I could use one of those to direct some of the cool air into the kitchen. Despite the kitchen door being right beside the AC unit, none of the cool air is going there. A single small fan placed at floor level would probably do wonders :) If the new that I got yesterday fails like the last one did, I'll trade it in and get another window AC unit. Wal-mart has one that is only $80 and since I'd be returning a $40 fan, I'd only have to pay $40 and the tax on it. That would be mean two new window AC units and at least 1 fan. Should cool the house nicely :D
