Where are the fireworks!!!

Well, was going to go see the city fireworks display this evening, but wasn't sure where they were going to be.  Got on-line and looked it up in the local newspaper to discover that this years fireworks display was cancelled.  Why?  As it turns out, the state passed a law that only someone licensed by the state could run a fireworks display.  The city's fire department had sent someone for training and testing and this person supposedly passed the testing.  The problem?  The state has no record of it.  So, the city tried to find someone licensed to do the display, but on such short notice were unable to do so.  Therefore, the display was canceled, the fireworks have been stored at the police's ammo dump and they will be used for a display at some future date. 

In the meantime, I've been hearing the pop-bang of fireworks all day long.  Guess on July 4th the law against personal fireworks inside the city limits is blown off.  Been hearing fireworks off and on for a couple of days now.  It's just intensified today.  Too bad there aren't any of the pretty ones that we all like to watch...sigh...
