The Transition has started...
Apr. 11th, 2007 12:36 pmOne of the reasons I was hired into my new job was because of my warehouse experience. The first thing they had me do was a physical inventory of all the spare parts, which was redone week before last due to a request from the UK for a forecast of parts to be ordered. During these past few weeks, the boss here, Jim, has taken to calling me "Warehouse Goddess" or "Oh Mistress of the Warehouse". In addition to this, he's put me in charge of creating the forecasts and has put me in touch with Simon, the guy in the UK who orders our parts and handles the forecasts that come in from all the locations. So, slowly, I'm taking over some of the responsibilities that Jim was handling, which should make his job a bit easier. They've pretty much handed control of our spare parts inventory to me and given me permission to growl at anyone who takes parts without adjusting our inventory sheets. I'm also in the process of rearranging the parts inventory because it was mildly sorted when I started, but not as well as it should be. I'm getting it organized and trying to get things into proper sized boxes/bins/etc. It's a slow process since I'm also working on repairs while doing this, but it's getting there.
