We got about 3-4" of snow last night and it was still snowing steadily when I left for work around 11:00 this morning. Yay! I love snow.
Weekend went pretty well. Skipped work to continue the flu/sinus infection recovery. Gaming went well. We got snow that day as well, but most of it had melted off by 1:00.
Tuesday we got more snow, again, melted off by 1:00. Went to Joli Rouge after Belly Dance class. It was kind of a bust though. Couldn't find anyone to go with and when I got there I found out that they were having 2 live bands there. Watched some people play pool. Saw a guy who had shown up and watched during one of our sword and shield classes and chatted with him a bit. When the first group started I thought they were still warming up. The group consisted of two guys: one with two keyboards and a Mac laptop and the other playing guitar and doing vocals. The singer had a nice voice, what I could hear of it. They psychodelic keyboard music way overpowered the guitar and vocals. It was reminiscent of early Pink Floyd, but the songs were too short and seemed to end without coming to a good musical conclusion. In other words, it sounded like they stopped in mid-song. Everything was so mellow, I almost fell asleep listening to them. They were okay, but not impressive.
Didn't catch the name of the second band, but I think there were three people in it. The keyboardist I couldn't see from where I was sitting. The drummer did well with what he had, but could use a few more toms and some symbols. Didn't see a guitarist, not sure there was one. The two I did recognize as band members could use some serious costuming help. The drummer was wearing spandex pants and shirt and reminded me of something you'd see in Weird Al's UHF movie or one of his videos. The singer was in a similar ensemble, but had on a mask and I think he may have been using something to alter his voice. Their music wasn't completely awful, but the singer was horrid. I left after their third song and the guy keeping the sign in book told me he wished he could leave too. He didn't really like these bands either.
Got home around Midnight, got up Wednesday around 9:00. Got sucked in by the TV and didn't get much of anything done except watching superhero movies on DVD. Did get some fabric washed so I can start on
amberblue's wenchs costume. Going to start work on that this weekend, but need to get some measurements from her first.
Heading home from work now. Didn't get here until noon.
